To use the Design Assistant to analyze and generate messages for an ACEX® 1K, APEX 20K, APEX II, ARM®-based Excalibur, Cyclone, FLEX® 6000, FLEX 10KE, Mercury, Stratix, or Stratix GX design:
If you have not already done so, create a new project or open an existing project.
If you have not already done so, specify Compiler settings for a supported design.
Choose Settings (Assignments menu). Shortcut
In the Category list, select Design Assistant under Compiler Settings.
In the Design Assistant rules list, turn on the Design Assistant rule(s) you want the Design Assistant to apply to the design when analyzing and generating messages for the design.
If you turned on Nodes with high fan-out, Report all nodes with more than <n> fan-outs, and/or Report top <n> nodes with the highest fan-out in the Design Assistant rules list, specify the nodes you want the Design Assistant to report:
In the Design Assistant rules list, select Nodes with high fan-out under Timing closure.
Click Advanced.
In the High-Fanout Net Settings dialog box, to specify the number of fan-outs above which you want the Design Assistant to report nodes, type the number in the Report all nodes with more than <n> fan-outs box.
To specify the maximum number of high-fanout nodes you want the Design Assistant to report, type the number in the Report top <n> nodes with the highest fan-out box.
Click OK.
Click OK.
If you want the Design Assistant to perform a post-fitting analysis on the current design, compile the design. More Details

If you already compiled or performed an analysis and synthesis on the design, and you want to perform a post-fitting or post-synthesis analysis on the design, choose Start > Start Design Assistant (Processing menu). Shortcut More Details
